Our highly qualified and experienced Opticians provide excellence in vision care using the latest eye examination technology to provide a quick, accurate and safe eye examination.
We offer a wide range of specialist eyecare services including clinics for dry eye, visual stress / dyslexia; myopia control (reduce short sightedness) and School Vision.
We provide a wide range of glasses and contact lenses for patients of all ages. We have a wide range of stylish and unusual designer frames from all over the world. We have our own glazing facility on the premises which means we can make up a complete pair of spectacles for you in house.

Jaymin Joshi
Director / Optometrist

Jay joined the team in November 2020 having worked for optical practices in the Bristol and Bath region for many years. Jay specialises in complex contact lenses and he likes to focus on the latest developments within the optometric field by attending optical seminars and conferences regularly. He will also be happy to chat about any sport going!
Chris Clarke
Director / Dispensing Optician FBDO
Chris joined Juul & Payne in 2019 and has over 15 years of experience and has won optical awards during his career. As our resident dispensing optician, he is an expert on finding the perfect lens for you. He's also a really good frame stylist (this is 'personal shopping' for glasses) asking you about your lifestyle and other needs before finding you the perfect pair. Chris enjoys clay shooting, track days and going to music festivals.

Diploma in School Vision
Qualified in 1976 and opened Juul & Payne in 1983, over 40 years ago. As former owner of the practice and now part-time optometrist here, Mrs. Juul specialises in behavioural optometry and children's vision. Jan loves travelling the world in her spare time, especially around Asia.
Lia Amri
Trainee Dispensing Optician
Lia is training as a dispensing optician and has completed one year at the prestigious ABDO college. She is incredibly friendly and helpful and can offer great advice on choosing your frames. She enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her two children.
Alannah Keenan
Pre-Reg Optometrist
Alannah joined Juul & Payne in 2022 and is currently a Pre-Registration Optometrist after graduating in 2025. She is refining her clinical skills and provides thorough eye examinations with clear, practical advice. Outside of work, she enjoys mountain hikes, especially in the Lake District.
Naomi Box
Receptionist
Naomi joined Juul & Payne in 2025 and is our colourimetry specialist. These precision tinted lenses have helped clients with visual stress and eased symptoms of Dyslexia. Naomi is usually the first person you will meet either on the phone or in person on reception. She enjoys socialising with friends and going on sunny holidays.
